T’ai Chi For Health
Manage stress through gentle exercise, deep breathing, and relaxed awareness. T’ai Chi Ch’uan, the ancient Chinese martial art, modified to also be a health exercise, is performed slowly with relaxed flowing movements. It strengthens legs, improves balance, increases flexibility, and relieves stress. In later stages, it calms the mind to become a “Meditation in Motion”. Beginners and Intermediates will learn Yang style postures in ten week course, including warm up and Qigong exercises.
Instructor Brian Bruning has been practicing T’ai Chi and various Qigong exercises since 1978, studying Yang and Chen Pan-ling forms. He is an instructor for The Rochester T’ai Chi Ch’uan Center, has taught locally in Brockport, Spencerport, Gates and Holley since 1997, and is certified in T'ai Chi for Arthritis.
I've chosen a link to a site where you can light a candle (for exams, for victims of Katrina, for your own personal prayers). You can also click on other candles, see what other people have lit them for and add your prayers to you. Just looking at the flickering "flames" provides a moment of quiet and calm. This is a page from "gratefulness.org", which was started by Brother David Steindl-Rast, a Benedictine monk who has written numerous books on prayer and spirituality, together representatives from several faith traditions. Since October has a convergence of important holidays for so many faiths this year (St Francis' feast day, Rosh Hashanah/Yom Kippur, Ramadan and Worldwide Communion Day), I thought this would be an appropriate site to explore.
